Problems scraping TV Shows from within subfolders

$

I'm just trying out Kodi on my PC before deciding to go for a full hardware-based solution, and so far it seems pretty good and very configurable. I'm having some problems scraping TV shows though, where it does not seem to drill down through the directory structure as I would have expected.

I have current TV shows saved inside their own subfolders within my main 'TV' directory on my NAS, which after a bit of fiddling with the naming system seems to be working broadly correctly.

Older archived shows (which I don't want cluttering up my main TV directory on the NAS) are all saved in their own subfolders inside a separate 'miscellaneous' subfolder within the main 'TV' directory. However no matter how I try naming the subfolders and files within that miscellanous folder, nothing at all seems to get scraped. The filenames seem correct as per theTVDB guidelines.

For example, in the (partial) list below, the top level folders work - including various sub-folders located inside 'Doctor Who' and 'Once Upon a Time' - but I get nothing at all scraped for the 'Blake's 7', 'Red Dwarf' or 'Babylon 5' folders:

/TV/Doctor Who/ (with various subfolders)
/TV/miscellaneous/Blake's 7/
/TV/miscellaneous/Red Dwarf/
/TV/miscellaneous/Babylon 5/
/TV/NCIS/
/TV/NCIS New Orleans/
/TV/Once Upon a Time (2016)/ (with various subfolders)

Any thoughts? (I have tried adding 'TV/miscellaneous/' as a separate source folder in Kodi by the way, in addition to the main 'TV' location, but still nothing)

It looks like the 'just use file name' scraper stopped working on kodi 17. Is there a way to fix it?

Inquiry about Video Game Scrapers

With the onset of Kodi 18 and the return to having video games more accessible in Kodi, what is the status of a metadata scraper for video games? I have done a cursory review of these forums and searched a few other places, but the answer seems to be quite fragmented. I greatly appreciate tools like Ember Media Manager and TinyMediaManager for organizing the back end of associated libraries, but I haven't found a tool that was focused on metadata and as easily accessible in the way those two programs are.

My understanding is that there need to be a few things in place in order to ensure scraping can be done effectively. First, there needs to be some inherent structure to how metadata is organized for video games. Movies, TV Shows, Music, and other sources of entertainment appear to have a bit more defined structure than video games from what I can find. Once the structure is in place, aggregating, organizing, and storing that data can begin. Again, from the sources I've found, the games databases appear to be more fragmented and incomplete than their movie and tv show counterparts. When the structure and the database are in place, a tool (like the aforementioned Ember Media Manager or TinyMediaManager) can be created to identify unique instances in your library and help extract relevant metadata from sources.

I'm generally just looking for some direction on where to find a good metadata scraper for video games if it already exists or if there is anything I can do to assist in the development (essentially no programming skills) of a tool for the same purpose. Thanks.

Missing thumbmails in second sql client

Hi,

Just set up my kodi 17 on 2 boxes. The second box does get movie/series info, but does not show all thumbnails, for example on the In Progress.

Some of my movies contain local .NFO (done by Ember in the past).

So all thumbnails are correct in the first install, that loads the SQL, in the second one it is fragmentated.
Any suggestions?

New user of linux kodi Kripton. I have my tv Shows folders set as genre, Action Drama Comedy etc on a remote server that I ssh into from kodi. This is the setup that I've followed with Kodi. The default scaper gets all the information wrong but will get some info correct that it buried three folders down but not see a season 2 right beside it. The whole Action folder is seen as one tv show called Action and Comedy folder comes with a /
Am I doing something wrong, well I am obviously but can I fix it without having to move any files from the folders that they are in.
New user sorry for any dumb questions asked now or in the future.

tmdb: ratings for movies

Hi,

I have a video library with additional information for each movie stored in nfo-files created by MediaElch. I also rate movies on themoviedb.org. Is it possible for kodi to fetch ratings from my account at themoviedb.org and to show it for any of my movies after updating the library?
What about the other way round? What do I need to rate my movies in kodi and to save the ratings automatically in my account at themoviedb.org?

Thanks!

Minimum TV show data required for Kodi to add to library?

Using the The Movie DB TV meta data with TV shows on Kodi 17. I've got a number of TV shows but noticed one of the them wasn't showing up in Kodi. I've learnt previously that if it's not in the TMDB, Kodi won't add it to the library. However in this particular instance it is in TMDB.

However on comparing with another TV show that does work - Big Bang Theory http://api.themoviedb.org/3/search/tv?ap...en,en,null I note this has a lot more attributes/fields.

Does Kodi expect a minimum amount of information from meta data before it will add to library? If so, what are the mandatory attributes/fields?

Thanks

Reporting what seems to be a bug. The TVDB has been offline a lot lately. When Kodi scrapes for TV show information against TVDB, Kodi will report no connection can be made and then closes itself. Kodi does not need to shutdown just because it cant establish a connection with a remote host. Really just an inconvenience but thought maybe someone would want to know.

TVDB scraper doesnt find new files

$

I'm using the built in scraper for tv shows, which has served me well for years. But after updating Kodi from 16 to 17.1 I started getting problems: When I update library, the scraper no longer finds new files in my tv shows folder. Movies are added like before so far that I can tell, but 9 out of 10 times it ignores new episodes.

I changed nothing in my hierarchy, and there doesn't seem to be a correlation between file formats and whether its added to the library. I've googled a lot to no avail; I can't find a thread describing the same issue I have. There are no error messages, nothing like "failed to blahblah". Scanning the library appears to work as it should; it looks through the folders and concludes with there being no new episodes to scrape.

So here are the details I can think, please ask what else I may provide to figure it out. I know one often add certain logs to these posts, but I have never done that before so I'll have to look up some instructables if thats necessary. Though, with no errors and everything appearing fine, I would guess that the logs would only show what appears to happen: "scanning...no new files...finished"

HIERARCHY:
TV SERIES FOLDER
-[SERIES NAME]
--SEASON 1
---[SERIES NAME] S01E01
----[ACTUAL FILE] (MKV/HEVC/ACHIVES)

I always kept tv shows stored like this, and it never caused any problems at all. Some times the episodes will be placed directly in season folder. Other shows may have separate folders for each episodes due to multiple achive files or organizing of subtitles. Extracting archives does not help, files are still not found. Moving episodes out of their separate folders and storing them directly in season 1 folder, makes no difference. All formats listed over are ignored equally by the scraper, though on a rare occasion files are found and added like they should. Now I have to add episodes manually, and even that doesn't always work.

SCRAPER
The TVDB built in 1.8.4: Always used this one, found no reason to replace it, neither are there good alternatives that I know of.
The TVDB 1.8.4.1: Shows up as an alternative, no idea why the built-in one wont update itself sinse theres apparently a newer version. Downloading this causes two separate addons with its own versions; neither can be disabled or removed. But choosing one or the other in "change content" windows, makes no difference.
XEM: Tried it for the hell of it, though if I understand correctly, it scrapes via TVDB like the others anyway and shouldn't make a difference besides numerating of episodes. Results are the same.

TRIED WITHOUT RESULTS:
1: Clearing out my library, scanning it all over, with all 3 scrapers listed over. A majority of old shows are added, eventhough info has been deleted. New files are however still not added.
2: Extracting archives
3: Moving files out of their separate episode-folders
4: Changing season folders names to "season 1" or "showname season 1"
5: Different file formats are treated the same, I tried other common formats

THE ONLY FIX SO FAR:
1: Via video\files\showname: I tried "scan for new content" on specific shows that had new files added. This doesn't work.
2: Via video\files\showname\seasonfolder: Scanned season folder for new content, doesn't help, no matter if the episodes are archives, mkv, hevc, or if they are placed directly in the season folder or in separate folder.
3: Via video\files\showname\seasonfolder\episodefolder: Scanning episode files or folders directly, will work SOME times, if not the option "add to library" works here.

TheTVDB v2.0

With the upcoming release of v2.0 of TheTVDB website, a lot of new features are being implemented. Some of these improvements include:
- Flexible Seasons
- New handling of actors
- New artwork types

Here is their blog http://platypus.thetvdb.com/blog/something_new

The website is also undergoing a major facelift. This is the non-live version... http://platypus.thetvdb.com/

What does this mean for Kodi? Will Kodi see these improvements and extras flow through? Especially for flexible seasons and the new artwork?

Rotten Tomatoes ratings scraping is broken

UPDATE: So I decided to test this on another Kodi install, just to make sure it wasn't just my Raspberry Pi. The issue affects both.

The debug log shows the following when trying to scrape the movie "The Founder" with Universal Movie Scraper:

Quote:12:08:13.353 T:8920 DEBUG: scraper: GetRTRatingById returned <details><url function="ParseRTTomAll" cache="4276820-omdbapi.html">http://www.omdbapi.com/?i=tt4276820&r=json&tomatoes=true</url></details>

12:08:13.353 T:8920 DEBUG: CurlFile::Open(19CE6FC0) http://www.omdbapi.com/?i=tt4276820&r=js...atoes=true

12:08:13.399 T:8920 DEBUG: CScraperUrl::Get: Using "UTF-8" charset for "http://www.omdbapi.com/?i=tt4276820&r=json&tomatoes=true"

12:08:13.403 T:8920 DEBUG: scraper: ParseRTTomAll returned <details><rating max="100">N/A</rating><votes>N/A</votes></details>

It also returns similar N/A results for other movies.

Does anybody know why this is suddenly borked? I checked out the omdb api site, but there was no mention of any problems there as far as I could see.

ORIGINAL POST:

Hi there,

Encountered an issue in the last couple weeks where I've noticed that the Universal Movie Scraper is no longer pulling rating information from Rotten Tomatoes.

Anyone else having the same issue? Is there a fix on the way?

Cheers

Movie scraping issue

Hi

I am using Kodi v17 and Universal movie scraper on a Win10 x64, and also Nvidia Shield.
I have a large collection already that the scraper has detected with no issues, except one movie:
Piranha 3D (2010) by Alexandre Aja is for some reason not being scraped correctly. It has been detected as a movie called Piranhas (2010) and is a comedy and IMDB does not know that movie at all (well I will agree that the movie is comical but it seems IMDB has set Piranha 3D in the horror genre). No movie poster is detected. Movie plays fine.

File structure:
\\NAS-media\SD\Movies\Piranha 3d (2010)\Piranha_3D.mkv

How can i get the movie scraper to do its job correctly.
I have tried to clean the library but nothing seems to work.

Any help that leads to correct movie scraping will be appreciated.

Scraper which parses another addon's JSONRPC response

Hi,

I wrote a script type plugin, which builds some media informations, if I Call it with JSONRPC and pass a movie title. But I want to create a scraper which parses my script's JSONRPC response.

I think, I Can make the regex extract from the JSON, but how Can I make a request from the scraper to the script? Is it possible?

If not, is there any other way to do this?

Many thanks!

tvshow scraper problem

Hello

To circumvent the problem that the default scraper doesn't support scene and p2p file naming convention, -I do not want to change filenames, nor change their directory. I've added my own regexp that I found on the internet. This is my advancedsettings.xml file:

Code:
<advancedsettings>
    <loglevel>2</loglevel>
    <tvshowmatching action="prepend">
        <regexp>(.*?)\.S?(\d{1,2})E?(\d{2})\.(.*)</regexp>
    </tvshowmatching>
</advancedsettings>

The logfile shows it's loading the file which is good. I rescan my files, and it can seperate the filenames:
American.Dad.S13E02.HDTV.x264-FLEET.mkv -> American Dad S13E02

However, it calls the api with the whole string, instead of just the shows name.
http://thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?ser...anguage=en
when it should be:
http://thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?ser...anguage=en
and then an additional call to get season and episode info.

How can I fix this? I guess it's something with parsing the season number and episode number to different strings, for other api calls. I don't know how kodi works on that.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks
