My Movies have no fanart - log says cannot resolve hostname

My scraper is not working.  TV shows work just fine.  But movies, there is no pictures, posters, etc.

I tried this:
* deleting metahandler script
* uninstalling/reinstalling metahandler add-on
* uninstalling/reinstalling art downloader
* isntalling universal downloader
* uninstalling/reinstalling movie database

My log file says cannot resolve hostname.  It can be found here:
https://files.fm/u/j4ecmmnp

I really appreciate any help and guidance.

----------------------Update-------------------------------
I installed Exodus, and their movies fanart shows. So that means I have a problem only with Spectro...Fork add-on. That add-on's movies do not show fanart and posters. How can I fix that?

TheTVDB tvshow.nfo https-Support

I tried to index some new tv shows to my library and put a tvshow.nfo file in every folder as usual. I just put one line in these files like https://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=80379&lid=7

Then I started Kodi and wondered, why it is not crawling the correct information. I compared the new tvshow.nfo files with some old ones and noticed, that the old links are http:// instead of https://

Since thetvdb.com now redirects to https automatically, could you please update the addon to accept these links too?

Pull from local info and THEN use TVDB?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I haven't had any luck tracking down the answer.

I'm in the midst of an update / rebuild of Kodi, that I will be putting on several HTPCs throughout the house.

All my movies and tv shows are stored on my QNAP server, and I'm wanting to keep the metadata consistent on all the PCs going forward.  To that end, I've started using MediaCenter Master to gather and store the metadata / art in the same folder as the video.  I intend to do that for new movies, from now on, which is simple enough, but, for ongoing tv shows, it's not quite so cut and dry, as I'll be adding new episodes, and I don't see a way to update the metadata for the new ones that easily.

My thought was that, after everything was loaded from local information, I would then configure Kodi to use the TVDB scraper, telling to to not wipe the database... and the new episodes would be handled automatically.  However, it's not pulling the new info for new episodes like I thought it should / would.

Am I missing something stupid / simple?  If I just set it to use TVDB initially, will it pull from the local info files first?   Is there a way to configure it to do so?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Read Media Tags

I have a 1st gen AppleTV (and 4 other gen 3's) that has been working great for years.  As I'm sure you've heard, Apple has dropped the ability to sync the original AppleTV since the iTunes 12/7 update.  So, instead of having a brick, I loaded OpenElec and Kodi from here: http://chewitt.openelec.tv/appletv/   Rolling back to a previous version is not possible since I upgraded my mac to High Sierra and iTunes 12.7.

The install went great and have been getting used to the customization's.  My challenge is the media tagging.  In iTunes, all of the media information is stored in the video file.  Kodi wants to redownload the metadata.  I like how my movies/TV Shows are organized/named now (one big movie folder and one big TV Shows folder with subfolders for each show (not season).  I only use this appletv to transport my collection while traveling.

There seems to a lot of plugins/addons to stream media and to find tag information online, but I can't seem to find one that will read the existing tag information off the media file and either create nfo files for Kodi or to load the information directly into the Kodi database.  Does this exist?  Is there somewhere I can add this request?  With Apple no longer supporting the original AppleTV, I can't be the only person in this boat, but everything points to using a different media manager (I used MetaZ now).  I just want to use the tags that I've already created.

Thanks in advance.

No entry at TMDB. How to scrape from IMDB

Hello,
Just got Kodi 17.3 running with LibreELEC OS (in the Raspberry Pi NOOBs  package).  The Movie Database isn't scraping 4-5 titles, I can see these very briefly listed in the "Event Log".  Installed Missing Movie Scanner 4.0.5 to learn more.  But, MMS shows NO missed movies, all categories are blank ( the "..").  Wondering if others are successfully  are using MMS with LibreElec?

Link below for the logfile at /storage/.kodi/temp/Kodi.log, I'm illiterate on this log file, it appears the MMS scan has run, but doesn't appear to indicate any missed Movies.   Coindentally or not, all the missed movies are documentaries, I 've read they are the most fickle.   Help, what am I missing?

Thanks!
David

Hi, I put a few films on my USB drive and scraping them worked perfectly but when I plugged my drive on my ftp server and wanted to update my library, the movies where unable to re-scrape. Even after deleting the .kodi folder and reinstalling, the scrapers had the same problem and I searched on the internet but I didn't found any fix. It is probably a problem of the addon (TMDB).

Broken or bogus Version 2.0.0 of TVDB metadata add-on?

$

Just now ( 2017/10/28 @ 17:00 PDT ) I installed Kodi 17.5 Git:20171023-5bd45ab on a friend's Windows 10 machine via the Window's Store. The installation completed without incident, however, after assigning both a movie directory and a TV show directory in Kodi, it proceeded to recognize every movie available but failed to recognize any TV shows. Repeated checks and reinstalls did not correct the situation.

I remotely connected to my system at home to verify the settings I used. To my surprise, my friend's fresh install listed the TVDB metadata add-on as version 2.0.0, while my home system listed it as version 1.8.5. Update for TVDB on my system offered only 1.8.5; my friend's offered only 2.0.0.

Out of curiosity, I located the metadata.tvdb.com-1.8.5.zip on my system at \Users\...\AppData\Local\Packages\XBMCFoundation.Kodi_4n2hpmxwrvr6p\LocalCache\Roaming\Kodi\addons\packages\ and downloaded it to my friend's system. After doing a manual "Install from zip file" of version 1.8.5, a video library update successfully found all available TV shows on my friend's system.

Why do the two machines see a different version of the TVDB metadata add-on in the official Kodi repository?
Is the Kodi app in the Window's Store somehow compromised?
Has anyone else reported this?

Hi,

i have kodi 17 in my rpi3 with deafult skin estuary.

I use an add-on to have access at my cloud nas.

I need to know if is possible have cover of fanart and trama for all folder, that have the name of tv show, like Lost, and subfolder Season 1 etc... but also for movies. ( when i select a movie or a tv show without play, i wish to see trama and cover or fanart. )

I have ExtendedInfo Script, but i guess that doesn't works inside any add-on.

Way to Downgrade TV Scraper?

$

Recently my HTPC stopped scraping new content. I was about to start the typical troubleshooting and make a log file, but then noticed that the HTPC in the living room also stopped.

If I navigate through the files, I can find and play the new content, so files are fine, and naming and folders are fine, been doing it the same way for years now.

I am using OpenElec, so hopped into their forums first, posted and response was that apparently OpenElec has issues with v2.0x of the scraper, suggestion was to downgrade.

So, I go into addons and the uninstall is greyed out, when I go to the repository, I don't see older versions, etc... I downgraded YouTube once a while back because of an issue that was soon fixed and so updated it again. Figured be as easy for the scrapers but no such luck.

Is there a way to downgrade the default TV scraper?

OpenElec suggested a downgrade but when asked how, that's kinda where the support died.

The v2.0.x TVDB scraper FAQs

$

0
So the latest update to the TVDB scraper has been a little "bumpy", to say the least.  I sincerely, absolutely apologise for that.

I thought it important to answer some of the more obvious questions regarding the new scraper, and what it means going forward.

Why have you done this?
The TVDB has updated it's API, requiring us to update our scraper to continue to access their database.
Currently, both the old v1 API and the new v2 API work, but this will change soon.  In fact, the original sunset date for the v1 API was 1 October.  We were already living on borrowed time.

From Kodi v18 (Leia), Python scraping will be possible, and a Python TVDB scraper using the v2 API is already in the works, but for versions below 18 a new scraper using the current regex-based methods was needed.

Why was it so broken?
I wrote the majority of the scraper a long while ago, and misremembered and misjudged how complete it was when I submitted it.
A few rounds of real world testing would have turned up many bugs.  And in fact, in a sense, that is what happened.

Thank you to everyone who has pointed out bugs and errors.  Please continue to do so, I will endeavour to fix them.
I'm just sorry you didn't get to volunteer for that duty.

Do I need to refresh my library?
Short answer, YES.  Everyone will.

Even if you haven't noticed any issue after the scraper update, when the v1 API is taken down new episodes won't get added to any show that has not been refreshed.
This will happen whether you are using the new scraper or have reverted back to the old scraper.  The old scraper of course, will cease to work completely.

The reason for this is because Kodi stores an episodeguide URL for each show, which it uses when adding new episodes.
This stored URL is now wrong, but because the v1 API still exists it's possible for the scraper to use the old URL and translate it to the new one on the fly.
However, once the v1 API goes offline, that function won't run, because the old URL will return an error (e.g. 404, 410, 418, or whatever).

You should use this grace period to find a convenient time to refresh your library to replace the old URL with the new one.  When time runs out you will be forced to refresh regardless.

How do I refresh?
If you only have a few ongoing series, just refresh them individually.  Complete series that will have no more episodes added are not affected, only series with new episodes being added are affected.
To refresh, press 'i' to bring up the info screen and then select the Refresh option.
Only the show details need updating, you don't need to update every episode if you don't want.
Image

To refresh the entire library, you will need to go to your source folder(s), bring up the context menu ('c' or long-press enter) and select Change content.
First change the content type to 'None' and agree to remove the contents from the library when prompted.  You will not lose watched/unwatched status on the files!
Repeat, but this time setting the content back to TV Shows.  Make sure the information provider is The TVDB, and check the settings!
If you are not using English as your default language you may need to turn on the new Fallback language setting.
Image

What if I'm using NFO files?
If you're just using URL NFO files (that is, they only contain the TVDB website URL of the TV show), you're fine.  You still need to refresh - you don't get out of that - but you'll be fine.
The new scraper can parse those just as well as the old.  (Better, in fact.)

If you're using an external media manager to generate full NFO files for the TV Shows AND for every episode BEFORE you add them to the library, you're double-fine.
All your information is coming from those files anyway, you'll barely even notice the change under the hood. You shouldn't even need to refresh.
(So long as your media manager has also made the switch to the v2 API.)

If you have a full tvshow.nfo file but not full episode NFO files, and so rely on the scraper to pull the information for new episodes, you're in trouble.
(This might be the case if you've exported your library to single files previously.  Episodes with exported NFO files will appear fine, but newer episodes without won't.)
This is because that tvshow.nfo file contains the wrong episodeguide URL, even when you refresh the show, if you don't choose to ignore local information that wrong URL will just be reused.
If it's just a previously exported nfo file, just choose to ignore it and/or delete it.  You can always re-export once you've confirmed everything is working again.

If you need to keep the NFO file because you've manually edited it, you can convert it to a mixed NFO file by simply adding the TVDB website URL for that show to it somewhere outside the xml (e.g. below everything), and then also removing the incorrect episodeguide URL (including the <episodeguide> tags).
When you refresh, the scraper will use the URL to fetch all the information from the TVDB as normal, but will then overwrite that with the information from xml portion of the nfo file (but not the episodeguide URL, because you removed that, see?).
You should then have the new episodeguide URL and still have all of your edited data.

Will my artwork change?
If you don't have locally saved artwork, then refreshing may indeed pull different artwork from the TVDB.
This has to do with the fact that the scraper pulls the art with the highest voted-on average.  Averages can change as more people vote; what was popular when you originally added the show to your library may no longer be so.
This would be just as true if you refreshed with the old scraper, and has little to do with the change in API.
If you manually chose a different artwork than the one pulled by the scraper then refreshing WILL undo that.

It is true that fewer artwork will be returned by the new scraper than the old due to the API only returning artwork in the languages specified (Default/Fallback/English - English art is always pulled).
If you manually changed to an artwork from another language, you may find it no longer available.

What if I really don't want to refresh my library?
Warning: This is not a recommended procedure for the novice user. Undertaking this procedure is at your own risk.

It may be possible to manually update the database to directly replace the old episodeguide URLs with the new.

The old URLs look like:
Code:
<episodeguide><url cache="((ID)).xml">http://www.thetvdb.com/api/((API-KEY))/series/((ID))/all/en.zip</url></episodeguide>

The new URLs look like:
Code:
<episodeguide><url post="yes" cache="auth.json">https://api.thetvdb.com/login?{&quot;apikey&quot;:&quot;((API-KEY))&quot;,&quot;id&quot;:((ID))}|Content-Type=application/json</url></episodeguide>

These are located in the C10 column of the tvshow table of MyVideosXXX.db (where XXX is the highest number in your database directory).
This will require a SQLite browser/editor (or MySQL) and knowledge of SQL.  It can't be done with a text editor.

It may also be possible to do this with a Python script via the JSON-RPC API, although someone with more knowledge on that would have to comment.

Caution (and back-ups) should be taken before attempting any direct manipulation of the database.

So are there any new features in this new scraper?
YES!!
If you never saw or tested my previous XSLT version, then please read the first post of that thread.
ALL of those features and fixes are in this scraper (... Except Trakt.tv ratings).

Why does it not work on OpenELEC?
By intent or accident OpenELEC does not parse the XSLT used in the new scraper.
This is not a bug in the scraper.  XSLT has been available to scrapers since Kodi v13 (Gotham).  This is an issue with OpenELEC, and should be brought up with it's maintainers.

LibreELEC by all reports works just fine.

This is too much work! Where can I get the v1.8.5 scraper?
Please understand that the v1.8.5 scraper for The TVDB will soon become obsolete and non-functional.
To continue scraping with The TVDB after the v1 API goes offline you will need to update to v2.0.x.  There is no workaround for this.
You are strongly urged to make adjustments now, during this grace period.

TMDB Add-on, where to insert API Key

Hi everybody, I have the TMDB add-on API KEY released by themoviedb but I can't find the way to insert this key in the Add-on.

I tried looking on the web and also inside the configuration page of the add-on but I didn't find anything. The only instructions I've found in order to use this key is using the Elysium Add-on, which I don't have and I don't need.

Is there a way to do what I want with standard koi installation and standard add-on?

Kodi v16 & v17 -- Read whatever the local jpg is named

Hello.

I am new to the forum and a relatively new Kodi user (v16).  I am making the switch from WDTV since they pulled the plug on this product and am now using an android media center box to play my shows and movies.

That said, I have a 4TB drive filled with various folders for each movie/series that I own and in each directory there is 1 or more jpg files.  For example, for a given movie folder, the following exists:

The.13th.warrior.mp4
The.13th.warrior.English.srt
The13th.warrior.jpg

I want Kodi to read and display my local jpg file without fetching anything from the web, but with the FAQ and add-on's i used from kodi wiki, everything seems to point me to loading something from an external webpage.  I simply want Kodi to read the matching jpg file to the filename and display that when I highlight the movie name (just like my WDTV box used to).  Is there a simple want to accomplish this?

It's not much different than a series folder, except each file has a jpg file associated with its name:

S01E01.Walking.Dead.mp4
S01E01.Walking.Dead.jpg
S01E01.Walking.Dead.English.srt
S01E02.Walking.Dead.mp4
S01E02.Walking.Dead.jpg
S01E02.Walking.Dead.English.srt
so on and so forth

Again, I'd like each respsective file to read the associated jpg that has the same name as the file.

I do certainly appreciate any insights or assistance anybody can provide.

Thank you in advance.

TMDB returns wrong language for titles

$

I have a strange problem with Kodi 17.5 and the tmdb scraper.

When I'm using the scraper it returns the wrong languages for the titles. The option to keep the original titles is set to off and my wanted language is set to german. The scraper is getting all other informations like description or the cover correct in the right language.

For example the movie

"Asterix & Obelix - Mission Kleopatra"
https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/2899-as...-cl-op-tre
got the titel
"Astérix & Obélix Mission Cléopâtre"

I used the debug option where I could find that the scraper got this URL for the movie
https://api.tmdb.org/3/movie/2899?api_ke...anguage=de

When you look at this page all informations are correct but the scraper do it wrong. It uses the original_title but the option to do this set to off as mentioned earlier.

How can I get the right language for the titles?

Hello guys,

OpenElec isn't adding new episodes with "the tvdb" scraper. My Debug log is here:

https://paste.ubuntu.com/25987608/

I can see that the files are picked up:13:06:42.170 T:1749021600 DEBUG: VideoInfoScanner: Found episode match nfs://192.168.0.70/Video/TV Series/Travelers (2016)/Travelers.2016.S02E03.720p.HDTV.mkv (s2e3)But then this warning on line 445:

13:06:43.214 T:1749021600 WARNING: No information found for item 'nfs://192.168.0.70/Video/TV Series/Travelers (2016)/', it won't be added to the library.I have deleted cache with the tvaddons.co Indigo add-on, rebooted.
I read about the new "The tvdb" API and tried refreshing one TV show, but I get in a loop where I have to enter the name of the TV show over and over.
When changing scraper to The Movie DB, a few of the TV shows actually update with new episodes.

I look forward to your bright ideas Smile

I am relitivly new and am tyring to scape my music libray.  I am using the universal music scrapper and as far as I understand it uses musicbranz.  The problem is that it isn't find artists that I know are in musicbranz and I don't know how to trouble shoot this.  For example:

Afro-Dite is a group that I have, any other, non Kodi, music playing apps can find this group and get all the meta data.  But Kodi doesn't.  This is only one example, below is a screenshot of this particular group in musicbranz.

The IMDB website now only lists the primary companies for every movie, and getting any more information requires an IMDB Pro subscription.

Even clicking on a studio to see what films it has been involved in now takes you to IMDB Pro.  You can still see some of what was available before if JavaScript is disabled, but not all of it.  If you have JavaScript enabled, you get a banner covering the page that wants you to subscribe, and cannot be dismissed.
