I am making this a separate thread because it has nothing to do with the current problems at TVDB. Although, making things a bit robust for glitches at TVDB could fall under the same umbrella.
There has always been an occasional frustration with using TVDB scraper when it fails to find a series (especially a more recent one with the same name or because of different language versions) but that listing does exist in the web front end. The only option when that happens is to use the manual option which only allows you to modify the title and hope that it finds it. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. There doesn't seem to be any choice than to hope the search works.
I always wondered if specifying the TVDB id itself which you can find in the web front end can be used instead for the scraper when the search. If so, is there a way I am missing to do this? If there isn't, I strongly feel one of the manual options can be to enter the TVDB id instead of the title.
For example, the latest series Guilt (2019) exists at TVDB web front end but there is no way to get the scraper to list this as an option
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/guilt-2019
by anything you put in the title field.
This might be a problem with the TVDB API and may eventually get sorted out but if a search can be made manually via the TVDB id, it would help remove a lot of those restrictions.
Or does this option already exist that I am missing?
